Lempi

Lempi is a work combining contemporary dance and choir singing.

I adapted 9 Finnish love songs for electronic notes and a choir of 40 high school students in collaboration with choir director Touko Raatikainen.

In this composition, young artists reinterpret traditional ideas of love. We experimented with various approaches to choral singing, including duration, mashups, and improvisation, as well as blending the human voice with an electronic soundscape and dance — to the point where an outcry is drowned beneath a wave of sound.
